The Company recognises that safety training is an integral part of this strategy and places great importance on the health, safety and welfare of all employees.
Operatives are working towards the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) certificates in conjunction with the CITB (Construction Industry Training Board), ensuring that quality skills are maintained and developed.
Plant operatives are working towards a nationally accredited plant competence scheme. We are an accredited company within CHAS (Contractors health & Safety assessment scheme). We are also ContractorPlus accredited.
Ensuring the health and safety of our workforce and the public in all our workplaces is at the core of every contract. William Gray Construction is proactive in adhering to health and safety legislation through our policies, training and inspection. We also register sites with the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS). This is a national initiative set up by the construction industry to improve its image. Construction sites and companies can register with the Scheme and are monitored against a Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements.
William Gray Construction is working with local schools to attract young people into the construction industry and employs a significant proportion of apprentices. We regularly take part in careers fairs with other local employers as shown left, to make children aware of the variety of careers in construction.
William Gray Construction was recently accredited as a member of this scheme in recognition of achieving the SAFEContractor standards of health and safety at work.
